In the 2024-25 season, NDM will offer three different programs:

  • Beginners program (Sharks & Mermaids, Rec Team, 12U Novice)
  • Intermediate program (12U Intermediate, 13-15 Intermediate)
  • Competition program (12U AG, Junior B, Youth AG, Junior AG)

 

1.) Beginners Program


Sharks & Mermaids

Ages 4 to 10. Learn the basics of artistic swimming and develop strong swimming skills.  Swimmers will participate in the annual Spring water show. Practices are twice a week for 60 minutes.

Rec Team

Beginners 7 years old and up. Passed the Sharks and Mermaids class or passed tryout requirements.  Will develop strong artistic swimming and swimming skills and pass level 1 LTAD (Long-Term Athlete Development) testing.  Swimmers will participate in the annual Spring water show. May move up to Intermediates in October if invited (if starting in summer). Practices are twice a week for 90 minutes.

12U Novice

Ages 7 to 12 (swimmers born in 2013 and later). Beginning swimmers who are ready to move up from the Rec Team but are still working on developing artistic swimming and swimming skills and to pass level 1 LTAD. Will participate in Cactus Classic and Regional Championships, plus the annual Spring water show. May move up to Intermediates in October if invited (if starting in summer). 3 practices/week for a total of 5.5 hours

 

2.) Intermediates Program

All intermediate programs will focus on teaching advanced skills, creating team choreography following the USA Artistic Swimming rulebook, LTAD levels and participating in invitational meets. Moving back to an intermediate level from a competitive level is fine and sometimes encouraged for some athletes.

12U Intermediate Team

Ages 7 to 12 (swimmers born in 2013 and later). 2nd or 3rd year of synchro. Will work on artistic swimming technical and performing skills. Will pass the level 2 LTAD. Will participate in Cactus Classic and Regional Championships, plus the annual Spring water show. 3 practices/week for a total of 5.5 hours.

13-15 Intermediate Team 

Ages 12 to 15 ( Swimmers born 2013 to 2010). 2nd or 3rd year of synchro- Will work on artistic swimming technical and performing skills.  Will pass level 2 and 3 LTAD.  Will participate in Cactus Classic and Regional Championships, plus the annual Spring water show. Option to get ready for competition team or to stay in the intermediate program. Small routines (solo, duet, trio) available if selected. 3 practices/week for a total of 5.5 hours.

 

3.) Competition Teams

12U AG Team

9 to 12 years (Swimmers born 2013 to 2016). Will commit to the competition schedule and team; must pass level 3 LTAD.  Will participate in Cactus Classic, US Nationals, Regional Championships, Junior Olympics, plus the annual Spring water show.  Swimmers ranking top 30 at Nationals or Junior Olympics in figures may be invited to the National Elite camp.  Swimmers may move up from 12U intermediate. Small routines (solo, duet, trio) available if selected. Practice 4 times/week for a total of 10.5 hours

Junior B Team

12 to 16 years. Will commit to the competition schedule and team; must pass level 3 LTAD.  Will participate in Cactus Classic, US Nationals, Regional Championships, Junior Olympics, plus the annual Spring water show.  Swimmers ranking top 30 at Nationals or Junior Olympics in figures may be invited to the National Elite camp.  Swimmers may move up from 13-15 Intermediate. Small routines (solo, duet, trio) available if selected. Practice 3 times/week for a total of 7.5-8 hours

Youth AG Team

13 to 15 years (Swimmers born 2010 to 2013). Will commit to the competition schedule and team, must pass level 4 LTAD.  Will participate in Cactus Classic, West Zone Championships, US Nationals, Regional Championships, Junior Olympics, plus the annual Spring water show. Swimmers will stay in team rooms for out of town competitions (up to 4 athletes per room). Small routines (solo, duet, trio) available if selected. May try out for the Youth USA national team and attend the 2025 World Championships. Practice 4 times/week for a total of 12-14 hours; small routines, if selected, may have extra practice.

Junior AG team

15 to 19 years. Will commit to the competition schedule and team, must pass level 5 LTAD.  Will participate in Cactus Classic, West Zones Championships, US Nationals, Regional Championships, Junior Olympics, plus the annual Spring water show. Swimmers will stay in team rooms for out-of-town competitions (up to 4 athletes per room). May try out for the Junior/Olympic USA national team. Practice 4-5 times/week for a total of 16-18 hours; small routines, if selected, may have extra practice.

 

Elite Mermaids

Swimmers from any competition team looking to try out for any National team, college scholarships and high level small routines. Additional hours will be scheduled weekly.
